Sore Throat Home Remedies

Reason:


A sore throat is caused when you consume a lot of cold water, or when you tend to speak loudly. Sometimes, eating a lot of sweets also causes irritation in your throat. Living in cold places and due to improper diet, one can suffer from pain in the throat. Swallowing food can be very difficult and painful.


Regardless of whether you have a sore throat, it is not serious enough to be visiting a specialist. It is still annoying and may keep you up at night. Luckily, you can always use home remedies to soothe your throat.



Remedies:


  • In a saucepan, add a glass of water and 3-4 dried figs. Bring it to a boil. Once cooled slightly, take out the figs and mash it. Apply the paste on your throat to reduce the swelling inside.

  • Take a banana peel and wrap it on the throat with a cloth. This helps soothe the throat.

  • Squeeze the juice out of spinach leaves, in a glass of water and gargle with it.

  • Take a glass of warm milk, mix 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder and 1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder. Drink this before going to bed.

  • Chew on 3-4 basil leaves for relief.

  • Heat a pan, add 2 tablespoons of caraway seeds and pinch of camphor(until you get the aroma). Inhaling this will help release the phlegm and you will feel at ease.

  • Before going to bed, take 1/2 teaspoon of crushed black pepper and one teaspoon honey.

  • Make a paste of asafetida with water and sniff it frequently or apply it around the throat and chest.

  • Take 1/2 teaspoon of honey or salt with 1/4 teaspoon of turmeric powder and 1/2 teaspoon lemon in a glass of warm water, stir it and gargle to clear the throat.

  • In a bowl, add 1 crushed fresh green chili then add a pinch of salt. Consume it with a piece of bread or roti. Doing so, will make your eyes water and your throat will clear up.
